Troop 202 β Cary, North Carolina
"We Do Character."
Troop 202 is a group of 60 Scouts supported by dedicated adult leaders. We are based in Cary, NC meeting most Monday nights at 7:00 PM at St. Francis United Methodist Church. Our Scouts range in age from 11 to 17, and they're organized into seven patrols β each with a mix of younger and older members who learn from and challenge each other every week.
We believe that adventure, service, and community build lasting character. Whether it's backpacking through Uwharrie National Forest, exploring our Nation's Capital, or hitting the trail at the famous Philmont Scout Ranch, our Scouts discover what they're capable of β and who they want to become.
Why Troop 202?

Scout-Led, Adult-Supported
Scouts run this troop. They're elected by their peers into leadership positions every six months and learn to plan, organize, and lead β with trained adult mentors providing guidance and encouragement along the way.
A Tradition of Excellence
Over 30 years, more than 120 Scouts have earned the rank of Eagle Scout β the highest achievement in Scouting. Many of our current adult leaders are Eagle Scouts themselves, bringing firsthand experience to the mentorship they provide.
A Real Fellowship
Sixty Scouts. Seven patrols. One troop. Our patrol structure means every Scout has a small group where they belong, along with the community of a large, active troop. From first-year members to seasoned Scouts, everyone has a role.
Year-Round Adventure
We don't take a season off. Our Scouts stay active through meetings, outings, service projects, and special events every month of the year. Some of our Scouts also participate in Order of the Arrow events throughout the year β Scouting's national honor society for experienced campers.

What Our Scouts Do

A typical year with Troop 202 includes about 10 weekend outings, 2 summer camps, 2 high-adventure trips, and a year-end trip. Our Scouts don't just hear about adventure β they live it.
High Adventure
Troop 202 Scouts have the opportunity to participate in Scouting's premier high-adventure programs, including Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, Florida Sea Base, and Northern Tier in the Boundary Waters. We also attend the National Jamboree β a gathering of tens of thousands of Scouts from across the country.
Summer Camp
Each year, we offer the option to attend up to two summer camps: Camp Durant and Raven Knob. Summer camp is where Scouts earn merit badges, build skills, make memories, and forge friendships that last for years.
